Best Time of Year to Visit the Gold Coast

One of the great things about the Gold Coast is that the weather is warm and sunny most of the year. The area experiences more than 300 days of sunshine every year. Even in the winter time, the average high of the day is 22°C or 71.6°F. The peak travel season for the area is in the summertime, which tells you that most people feel that the summer is the best time to visit. However, during peak travel times, prices for things like attractions and accommodations are more expensive. If you like to avoid the crowds and save some money, you might want to visit at some other time.

A great time to visit would be just after the summer. Although the weather is great year-round, March and April is very nice, and it's not as chaotic as it is during the peak months of the summer, from December to February.

Getting to and from the Airport

There are plenty of options for getting to and from the Gold Coast Airport. There is an information desk right outside the international arrivals terminal where you can get all the information you need about buses and shuttles. Many buses leave from the domestic arrivals terminal near the baggage collection area. There are several bus routes that run directly from the airport to some of the most popular tourist areas. Some routes have buses leaving every hour,
and other routes have buses leaving every half hour.

Traveling to and from the airport by train is another option. There are trains that travel from Brisbane Central to Robina Train Station with a connection to Surfside Bus #761 which stops near the Gold Coast Airport.

You can also find a taxi just outside the terminal or you can pre-book a limousine service. Renting a car is also an option. All of the popular rental car companies in Australia have offices that are located just opposite of the arrivals area.

Accommodations in the Gold Coast, Australia

There are over 230 hotels in the Gold Coast area and you can use the Internet to quickly research the best hotels. There are many travel comparison websites that let you enter some information such as the number of rooms you need, the number of beds you would like, your check-in and check-out dates, and then you simply click a button and you will be presented with many options. You can then sort the hotels by price or by customer rating. You can even read reviews from people that have stayed at a particular hotel to help you decide which hotel would be best.

Things to Do in the Gold Coast

The Gold Coast is a town that really caters to tourists. There are enough things to do to keep you busy for months. If you like theme parks, there are several that you can visit. The top four are Dreamworld, Sea World, Movie World, and Wet n Wild water park.

Of course there is a lot more to do than just visiting theme parks. Moreton Bay has a world-renowned scuba diving area where you can see coral reefs and marine wildlife. If you enjoy fishing, there are hundreds of creeks, rivers, and lakes, or you can do some deep sea fishing off the continental shelf.

There are more golf courses per capita in the Gold Coast than anywhere else in the world. There are also plenty of nightclubs for those of you who enjoy the nightlife and spas for people who like to pamper themselves. There are also plenty of great restaurants to enjoy.

The Gold Coast area also gives visitors the opportunity to see Australian wildlife without traveling deep into the outback. You can visit the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary where you can get up close to kangaroos and ask questions of the knowledgeable staff. You can also visit Springbrook National Park where you can see wildlife and also take in the incredible landscape.
