Leaving London: Where to go

Life in London can be famously hectic, so if you’re contemplating a break to get away from it all this year; here are a few suggestions of the best destinations from around the world.

On your doorstep

If you’d like to escape to somewhere refreshingly quiet, head to the Cotswolds, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with miles of scenic rolling hills. Honey-coloured limestone buildings, shimmering lakes and unspoilt rural landscapes greet you at every turn. The still and gentle countryside is the perfect antidote to city life, and there are a number of charming villages to visit, including the idyllic medieval town of Burford, which boasts a beautiful Gothic church and a variety of inns, restaurants and cafes.

Short trips need not be confined to home terrain however, with much of France reachable by rail in only a few hours. Take a detour from Paris and head south to Rocamadour, one of France’s most lovely regions. Its well-preserved medieval architecture, chateaux and castles blend perfectly into the meadows and woods. In the evening, take to the skies in a hot air balloon for a breath-taking panoramic view before settling down to a candlelit dinner in a local restaurant.

Further afield

For a slightly more unconventional short break destination, try the shore of the beautiful Lake Bled in Slovenia. The clear blue waters combine with the lush green density of the surrounding forests to provide truly stunning scenery – visit the medieval Bled Castle, which sits on an island in the middle of the lake, for a taste of the region’s history, as
well as classical music concerts in the evenings.

Moving slightly further east will take you to the stunning Southern Aegean destination of Santorini. Although all of the 227 inhabited islands are set in idyllic surroundings, Santorini – an extinct volcano island – has spectacular vistas from its hilly cliffside apartments. Relax in a swimming pool overlooking the sea, sample the goods in wineries or go shopping in the capital, Fira.

Wherever you decide to visit this year, make your trip even better value with a BA Credit Card from American Express. Earn exclusive Avios points for virtually every £1 you spend, which can then be redeemed for reward flights – see the sights and, as you wine and dine, collect points to go towards your next getaway. Angelica Zambrano is Dead For 23 Hours, Taken To Heaven and Hell, Sent Back With A Message

Please share this good message by our Lord Jesus Christ. For a period of 23 hours, a young Ecuadorian girl named Angelica was shown the Kingdoms of Heaven and Hell, and the Return of Christ. She witnessed Jesus weeping as He overlooked multitudes of souls lost forever, a world that has rejected Him, a Church that is mostly unprepared for Him, a people that have stopped witnessing to the lost, and an entertainment industry that even lures children to Satan. She witnessed many of our esteemed cultural icons suffering in the Pit; singers, entertainers, and even a pope. Angelica was also shown how the Kingdom of Heaven is all wonderfully prepared and ready, an unimaginable glorious place, where no evil exists. Though Jesus is ONLY coming back for a Holy People, and many
